Office at the White House
First Lady Michelle Obama honored Office and other Cooper Hewitt National Design Award winners at the White House on September 30.
At a luncheon hosted by Mrs. Obama in the East Room, she congratulated awardees for having some of the “most daring and creative minds in the world.” But as important as it is to celebrate the best designers in America today, she said it’s also necessary to cultivate the best designers of tomorrow.
Before visiting the White House, Office team members spent the morning at a mentoring workshop hosted by Tim Gunn, talking with Washington D.C. public high school students who are interested in studying design. Mrs. Obama invited some of those students to join her at the luncheon.
