Google's Creative Lab asked Office to help redesign the Chrome identity to better represent the Chrome experience of making the web faster and easier for all. Chrome is the umbrella brand for Google's web experience products, including an operating system and fast-growing browser. Now with more than 160 million users worldwide, the Chrome browser's user base has more than doubled in the past year.
Office collaborated with the Google team to develop a simple identity that embodies the spirit of Chrome. To maintain the equities of the previous mark, the logo is based on the same interlocking forms and colors. The Office team stripped down the highly stylized, "Web 2.0," glossy 3-D icon to reflect Chrome's super-simple, fast experience in a way that's refreshingly light and modern. The logo was also designed to fit in with Google's family of products, and to adapt easily to a broad range of applications -- from a PC menu dock, to notebook hardware, to TV spots.
